Habitats and Wildlife

  • Ecosystem restoration including habitat enhancement and species translocations. We are
experienced in implementing translocation and/or establishment programmes for a wide range
of species ranging from common forest birds to various seabirds, reptiles and invertebrates.
  • Designing and implementing monitoring programmes to detect species and identify trends in
relative densities (e.g. bird call counts, tracking tunnels to monitor the presence of small
    mammals).
  • Surveying – we are experienced in locating and identifying NZ native flora and fauna.
  • We are certified bird handlers experienced in catching, processing and banding a wide range of
species such as passerines (e.g. robins, tomtits and rifleman), parrots (e.g. kaka and kakariki),
    seabirds, kiwi and takahë.
  • Management of introduced mammals and invasive plants (e.g. designing or implementing small
or large scale monitoring, control or eradication programmes).

Project Management and People Engagement

  • Preparation of strategic, management and operational plans including project restoration plans,
species translocation plans, wildlife handling/monitoring permits and Standard Operating
    Procedures.
  • Project management (ranging from ‘starting up’ advice through to complete project
management, we will guide the process to ensure an agreed outcome is achieved).
  • Community and volunteer engagement (e.g. facilitating or running training programmes for
individuals or community groups including wildlife monitoring and predator trapping).
  • Nature education – we can facilitate and/or lead nature education programmes for all ages.
