We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Ranger to join our talented Biodiversity team in the Auckland Inner Islands.

Based in Devonport, Auckland, at the Maungauika/North Head office, the purpose of this position is to protect pest-free islands from invasive animal species and dogs.

You will specialise in pest surveillance, control or incursion response for a range of animal pests such as ants, wasps, plague skinks, birds, as well as pest mammals.

Most of your work will focus on Rangitoto-Motutapu, and you will also provide support to other islands in the region (The Noises, Motuihe, Tiritiri Matangi, Motuora, Kawau, Hauturu).

Working well with others, you will support staff, contractors, community groups, and volunteers to deliver essential conservation work. You will also be able to work confidently by yourself.

You will provide pest advice and support within the district to staff and community groups.

While you will be based in Devonport, you must be able to travel out to the inner Hauraki Gulf islands regularly and spend up to 10 nights on an island at a time.
