From the wild beauty of Banks Peninsula to the secretive wetlands of coastal Christchurch, our residents can enjoy some of the most spectacular and accessible parks in the country.

We are seeking a motivated, field based Ranger who wishes to make a difference to our environment and join the team managing the city’s regional parks and diverse natural areas. This team delivers quality parks facilities and services such as natural asset management, education, resource protection and emergency response.

This role requires a physically fit individual who has a good understanding of, and some proven experience in, natural area parks management, good interpersonal skills, and environmental education delivery skills. The position supports the Ranger team with the maintenance and enhancement of these significant recreational and natural area assets. The role requires the person to work both alone and alongside other rangers as well as having a strong connection with volunteers in the community.

The position requires a team player with strong educational and written communication skills, as well as proven capability in a range of field based biodiversity skills, such as plant and animal pest control and habitat restoration projects. Rangers are uniformed and work a set roster that includes one weekend day per week.
