Are you someone who loves the coast with native bush down to the water’s edge? Do you have lots of practical skills and enjoy working with people? If yes then this job is definitely for you.

We have a rare and exciting vacancy in our Operations team based out of Owaka, the gateway to the rugged Catlins. We need an individual, who is a proven effective team player, is great at communication and has a passion for New Zealand’s flora, fauna and ensuring our visitors are safe and informed while visiting this special part of the country.

As a key member of our small tight knit team, you will help deliver:

  • Pest plant control and monitoring
  • Track and amenity/infrastructure maintenance
  • Biodiversity assets and threats
  • Liaise with the local community on all things conservation
  • Supervision of volunteers and temporary staff

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • A relevant tertiary or trade qualification
  • A current first aid certificate and driver’s licence (preference given to W, T, R endorsements)
  • The ability to work well in a small team
  • The ability to stay away from home when required
  • Sound knowledge and 3-4 years’ experience in relevant field work programmes and facility management including carpentry, use of chainsaws, scrub bars and other motorised plant/equipment
  • Current grow-safe certificate or Approved handler certificate for herbicides
  • Computer literate and experience using GPS and mobile devices

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
