Do you want an interesting and challenging role in conservation? We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with excellent people skills to engage with concessionaires and monitor visitors in the Central Otago District.  This is a fixed term position for 20 weeks working 40 hours per seven-day period.

The purpose of the position is to:

  • engage with concessionaires to understand and monitor their activity.
  • monitor and report any unauthorised commercial tourism activity being undertaken on public conservation land.
  • provide written reports on the monitoring and to follow up with operators when required.
  • conduct visitor monitoring at key sites.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a positive attitude and experience working with others.
  • a high level of professionalism.
  • strong administration and data management skills.
  • a good knowledge of conservation.
  • hold a valid full drivers licence.
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a proven ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • a proven ability to balance competing demands, meet deadlines and solve problems.
