Are you someone who wants to drive and influence change in the environmental performance of dairy farming?  Are you passionate about the conservation of New Zealand’s natural flora and fauna.  Are you skilled at project management, experienced in collaborative projects in rural areas and love to share your skills and knowledge with others?

As Senior Ranger, (Biodiversity) for the Northern North Island your work will be a Site Lead for the Living Water programme within the Whangarei and Kaipara Districts.  You will have defined leadership responsibilities including the ability to plan and authorise technical work programmes relating to:

  • freshwater ecology;
  • ecosystem restoration;
  • animal and plant pest control programmes;
  • monitoring and evaluation

The successful applicant will have

  • relationship management experience in rural communities and with iwi, hapu and whanau.
  • proven project management experience
  • a natural heritage or conservation management qualification
  • specialist experience and/or qualifications in freshwater ecology and  ecosystem restoration
  • The ability to take the initiative and work unsupervised
  • Skilled at coaching, training and supporting staff and the acquisition of technical knowledge

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
