This is a local technical specialist role which is responsible for

  • Annual business planning, monthly reporting and financial management
  • Project and operational planning and providing technical advice and support on the recreation/historic programme in the District which covers both front country and remote back country sites.
  • Supervising the Region’s Building Team.
  •  Developing and managing capital work projects in the front country and remote back country sites
  • Contract management
  • Managing relationships with iwi, business, local government and community organisations and individuals

The successful applicant should have:

  • A strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the work place
  • Experience /qualifications in asset maintenance and construction
  • A strong understanding of systems and processes within DOC including asset management recording systems or the ability to quickly gain that understanding
  • Experience in work programming and leading a work team
  • Strong project management experience
  • Skills in coaching, training and supporting staff to acquire technical knowledge and experience
  • Strong contract management experience
  • The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with iwi, businesses, local government, communities and organisations and individuals
  • Extensive experience of managing assets in the field is an advantage
