The Department of Conservation is seeking someone with an ambition to contribute to the protection of New Zealand’s forests, species, habitats, freshwater and marine environments.

This person will have the ability to work as a high performing team player in the pursuit of the Department goals for conservation on behalf of all New Zealanders.

The role plays an important part in the leadership of the Lower North Island (LNI) Region, not only in the area of statutory management but right across the range of people and functions in the Region.  The Statutory Manager is a key member of the LNI Regional leadership team.

A background in planning, legal or resource management is essential. This type of experience will put you in prime position to support decision makers with quality advice and quality process.

Your excellent people skills and strong drive for results through collaboration will see you build highly successful internal and external working relationships.

You will also work closely with shared service providers, local government and external stakeholders.  A sound understanding of the value of working with local communities, iwi and business is required.

Your written and oral communications skills must be of the highest standard. The ability to understand and adapt systems and process to improve productivity and performance is important.
