The Oamaru Penguin Symposium will be held in Oamaru, New Zealand, on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th of May 2021.
The Oamaru Penguin Symposium is normally a biennial meeting and was due to be held in 2020, but instead will be held in 2021. The symposium began in the late 1990’s as the “Blue Penguin Scientific Symposium” to provide information to the community about the effects of tourism on the blue penguins at the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony. The symposium grew to include talks about other New Zealand penguin species, then penguin species from outside New Zealand and even talks about other seabird species. The aim is to encourage participation from a wide variety of seabird researchers and enthusiasts. The symposium is attended by researchers, volunteers, field workers, students and rehabilitators from all types of organisations.
This year please register your interest and we will open payments up nearer the time, as we watch the changing situation with Covid-19.
