Our vision is for a thriving Southland – environmentally, socially, economically, and culturally.

We are Environment Southland. We have a dynamic and friendly working environment, access to a wide range of technology, training and support, and the chance to make a real difference to Southland’s natural environment.

Environment Southland offers generous leave provisions – 3 wellbeing days per year, 12 days sick leave; income protection insurance, free flu shots, free parking, an active social club and a relocation allowance for the right candidate.

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range $78,570 – $82,935.

Beaches, ski fields, 4 out of 10 of NZ Great Walks, national parks, lakes and fiords are all a short journey from Invercargill. Combined with reasonable house prices, short commutes and a relaxed pace of life, it all makes Southland a great place to live and work.

Do you like working with people and helping them find solutions?

We’re looking for someone who can help us make a difference throughout the Southland Region by supporting landowners and community groups to implement pest control solutions.

Our dynamic and energetic biosecurity and biodiversity team plays a key role in delivering Environment Southland’s vision for a thriving Southland. Our animal pest control programmes reach over 2,500 people a year and are spread out across the region; we need your help to maintain these programmes into the future.

You will have:

  • a practical knowledge of commonly used pest animal control and monitoring methods and the ability both to apply them and to promote them to other users;
  • the ability to communicate effectively with both individual land-owners and community based groups.

Knowledge of native flora and fauna and ecological restoration in terrestrial ecosystems would be an advantage, as would a qualification in an appropriate discipline.
