Focussing on preventing the impacts of wilding conifers at Taharoa Domain (Kai Iwi Lakes), this role is at the forefront of wilding conifer control in Northland. At Taharoa Domain the wilding conifers are postharvest remnants of plantation forests that are currently being controlled to encourage revegetation with native species. Wilding conifers have the potential to outcompete native plants, preventing ecological enhancement and damage environmental, cultural and landscape values.
You will develop an agreed operational plan for wilding conifer eradication at Taharoa Domain and project manage the delivery including project planning/scheduling, stakeholder liaison, contractor and permit/consent procurement etc.
Do you have what it takes?
We are looking for a person with great communication skills who can build effective relationships with a variety of people and with a proven ability to deliver high-quality outcomes with a professional, courteous, and enthusiastic attitude.
You will preferably have an environmental or natural resource-based tertiary qualification, have a good understanding of weed management practices as well as a sound understanding of tikanga Maori.
You will need a full driver’s licence, be capable of working in the field and have a minimum three years’ experience in a project/contract management, forestry or weed management role or similar.
