We have been fortunate enough to be involved in one of the longest Powelliphanta land snail research projects and are putting together a team to help build on this knowledge. The work aims to collect important data in a collaboration effort between a number of organisations.
The work is carried out at night time, in the right climate conditions (often wet) and can be challenging but it offers good experience in working with one of our rare native species.
This work is based from Westport (on the West Coast) and is in on a fixed-term basis and goes until the project objectives are met which we anticipate taking 8-12 weeks. The role is ideally suited to those currently studying or looking for experience within the environmental industry.
You must have:
- Passion for the outdoors and the New Zealand environment
- Moderate fitness
- Ability to work in challenging weather and terrain
- Ability to work night shift
- Flexibility as the work is weather dependent
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Pass a drug test.
