An opportunity has become available for an experienced team leader to join the ecological restoration team at Wai-ora Group. Our work consists of weed control and planting in a wide variety of environments in Canterbury, including remnant vegetation, riparian planting and revegetation. Hours of work will be typically 7.30 – 4.30 five days a week although some extra hours may be available.
Wai-Ora Group is a well-established company providing high quality solutions for landscaping, fencing sports court installation, plant propagation and supply, and ecological restoration services. Being wholly owned by a charitable trust we take great pride in being able to contribute to the community not only through the services we provide to our customers, but also through the contribution we make to the Wai-Ora Trust to enable them to achieve their objective of “Helping People Grow”.
Proven ability to lead a team is essential, experience in ecological restoration is essential. You will be required to be a team player and willing to help out with whatever is needed. The following skills and attributes will also be an advantage:
- Leadership skills
- Effective client communication skills
- GPS waypoint skills
- Good work ethic
- Physically fit and able
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Plant and weed Identification skills
- Full Driving Licence (Manual vehicles)
- Excellent verbal English communication
- Chemical applicator/Growsafe® Certificate
- Experience with small motors.
This is a “hands on outdoor role” so you’ll need to be prepared to work in all weathers. Personal protective equipment will be provided.
