Full-time, Fixed-term position from 31 March 2025 – 30 June 2025
Wildlands are seeking a full-time fixed-term Ecological Restoration Team Member for our Christchurch branch. This role is to work in small field teams to control pest plants, planting, and pest animal control.
It is essential that you have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, are physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather. The work involves the use of agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins (poisons), and traps on a regular basis. Some work may involve staying away in remote areas in basic accommodation.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- A genuine interest in working in the outdoors and achieving restoration goals.
- Knowledge and experience of pest plant control, and pest animal monitoring and control, and indigenous planting.
- A positive, can-do attitude.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- A good work ethic, efficient and H&S conscious.
- GPS use and other hand-held devices (e.g., phone, camera).
- A good level of fitness, preferably with outdoor skills (tramping, hunting, etc).
- Full NZ drivers’ licence (manual preferred).
Preferred applicants will hold CURRENT relevant qualifications and experience. These include Growsafe (Standard or Registered Chemical Applicator) and First Aid.
