Keystone Ecology specialises in native habitat restoration, weed control and pest monitoring and management.
Keystone Ecology is based in Christchurch and operates through Canterbury. Working away from home averages about one week per month.
This role is primarily focused on pest plant control and native planting.
This position is full-time on a fixed-term basis until the end of June 2025. There may be an opportunity to extend at this time.
The applicant should have the following attributes:
- An Ecology or Conservation tertiary qualification
- Experience with practical science-based field work
- A passion for the outdoors and protecting New Zealand’s environment
- Have a good understanding of ecological processes
- A good work ethic and able to work efficiently and safely in a team environment. Time management and prioritisation skills, and attention to detail
- Native and pest plant identification skills
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- Be comfortable working with agrichemicals
- Hold a current Grow Safe qualification with practical experience.
- Have a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in all weather and challenging terrain
- Hold a current full manual drivers’ licence and able to drive a manual vehicle
- Be prepared to work away from home when required.
Additional Desirable Attributes:
- Training qualifications and experience for ATV, 4WD and chainsaw
- Current first aid certificate
- Be familiar with the use of GPS use and other hand held devices.

Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.30pm although working outside normal hours may be required.
