As part of Hamilton City Council’s Community Group, our Parks and Recreation unit has responsibility in continuing to ensure Hamilton remains one of New Zealand’s most attractive and liveable cities. Our wider team manage the city’s visitor destinations, recreation facilities, parks and open spaces for our communities to play, relax and come together.
Become part of Hamilton City Council Natural Areas team, working towards achieving great biodiversity outcomes for the city by engaging with local gully owners and stakeholders to undertake gully restoration projects.
Raising an awareness and appreciation of Hamilton’s gully systems and actively promoting and enabling the physical restoration of this resource is crucial to successful biodiversity outcomes for the city.
We need you to effectively engage and support existing gully restorers, while also encouraging further the uptake of gully restoration with other gully owners. The focus is on increasing biodiversity in the city. You will organise and engage gully owners at public meetings, during our workshops and via social media. In addition, you will coordinate resources to help improve our monitoring to document the benefits of our efforts.
