Experienced professional sought for world-first project. Te Korowai o Waiheke Trust is seeking a pest eradication specialist to establish, manage and deliver its operational programme to eradicate rats and mustelids from Waiheke Island.
Towards a Predator-Free Waiheke
Te Korowai o Waiheke has been initiated and driven by the Waiheke Community. It aims to create the world’s first predator-free, populated island close to a major city, by eradicating mustelids and rats over then next 5-7 years. The project is funded by Auckland Council, Predator Free 2050 Ltd and Foundation North, and has a large number of stakeholders, including the local community.
The successful candidate will have both practical and technical experience, knowledge and skills to manage eradication over Waiheke’s diverse landscape, including biosecurity and monitoring requirements. You will be competent, amiable and a team player. You will be highly experienced in conservation fieldwork, be a capable manager of both contractors and staff, and have a successful track-record of working closely with community groups and stakeholders.
