The Maniapoto District is on the lookout for someone keen to work as a Ranger in our Biodiversity team based in Te Kuiti. This role focuses on the seasonal demands of the biodiversity work programme and as such requires a broad range of skills and experience.
He angitūtanga: About the Role
This role works to protect vulnerable threatened flora, fauna and habitats. This is a diverse role which will see you doing such tasks as assisting with pest control to species outcome monitoring and the rejuvenation of logged forest through weed control and replanting. You will need team leadership skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. It is expected that the office/field split will be 60/40
He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for
- Have knowledge and experience in planning and organising complex projects
- Have proven skills and experience in biodiversity management in particular, animal pest management
- Be able to maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups
You will be required to stay away overnight, work outside normal hours and/or during weekends. It is essential to have a very strong commitment to health and safety (HSE) and exhibit exemplary HSE practice.
