Website Tītoki Landcare Ltd

Fixed term, full-time position

Tītoki Landcare is a growing specialist ecological restoration company and we are on the hunt for a passionate, knowledgeable, skilled and hard-working individual to join our team as a Site Supervisor to help with our work in the Waikato, Auckland, and Bay of Plenty.

Our team provides both operational services (e.g. vegetation and fauna management) and consulting services (e.g. vegetation and fauna surveys, reporting, advice, training). We are looking to add a key member to our Waikato-based team to lead on-ground ecological restoration works as a Site Supervisor within our operations team.

Our operational services are underpinned by two key principles – look after what we have and work with nature to allow it to prosper. Our primary operational services include strategic weed management, site preparation for planting, native planting, and pest animal control. We also assist clients with additional services such as track construction and maintenance, and mulch delivery and spreading. We currently provide operational services to around 30 sites covering a range of environments from established forests and kahikatea stands to regenerating gullies, open wetlands, and riparian habitats.

We have a team of skilled and knowledgeable operators who combine knowledge with action, and work collaboratively with iwi, councils, landowners, community groups, businesses, and government agencies to protect, maintain, and enhance indigenous biodiversity within our project sites.

Site Supervisors lead our on-ground restoration works which requires a high-level of understanding of ecological restoration principles and techniques. They are the link between our field crews and Site Manager/Project Managers and as such are critical members of the Tītoki team.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing direction to field teams on priority tasks and ensuring field crew stay on task.
  • Providing guidance and expertise to field crew or seeking guidance/information from the Site Manager/other senior team members.
  • Ensuring safe work practices onsite.
  • Completing and saving the necessary health & safety documentation for onsite works.
  • Ensuring their field team has the necessary equipment to complete their work.
  • Overseeing daily maintenance of equipment by field crew.
  • Noting and reporting damaged/faulty/lost equipment to the Site Manager and organising replacements as appropriate
  • Producing daily work reports for on-ground works.
  • Fielding questions from public and/or the client whilst onsite.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique indigenous biodiversity.
  • A good work ethic and be reliable and punctual.
  • 2+ years’ experience in operational conservation and ecosystem management.
  • Good plant identification skills.
  • First aid certificate.
  • 4WD certificate.
  • GrowSafe Standard certificate or equivalent.
  • Comfortable and competent using IT-based platforms e.g. Google calendar, Trap.nz, Survey123.
  • A sound understanding of ecological management and restoration approaches involving weed management and assisted regeneration.
  • Experience managing staff.
  • Chainsaw certificate.

Expected salary range is $60,300 – $68,600 per annum.

In addition to the base salary, the Site Supervisor will have the primary use of a work ute (shared with team members as required) and a monthly mobile phone reimbursement.
