We are looking for an enthusiastic Supervisor Biodiversity/Recreation /Historic to join our Operations team in Alexandra, Central Otago District. We have a wide range of facilities including the Central Otago Rail Trail cycleway, back country huts, an extensive back country hut and track network, day visitor tracks and historic sites. Our biodiversity team has a wide scope, collaborating strongly with contractors, community groups, and neighbours. Our District is defined by our work with the community and the biodiversity, historic and recreation assets of our place.

The Supervisor in this role will lead a team of talented individuals based at Alexandra and Macraes field base to deliver the biodiversity, recreation and historic work plan.  You must be a great team person and have a proven ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively with others. A major component of your work will be helping your team to develop and succeed in their own work. In this Supervisor position, you need to have an eye for detail, a willingness to work towards continuous improvement, and plenty of drive and initiative. Health, safety and the wellbeing of your staff and volunteers is a high priority. You will also be an active member of our District Leadership Team with your Supervisor and Senior Ranger peers and the Operations Manager.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • experience in leading staff
  • a strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the work place
  • experience in scheduling an effective work programme
  • experience in management of visitor facilities and/or historic assets
  • skills in coaching, training and supporting staff to acquire technical knowledge and experience
  • a strong understanding of, and commitment to, the team process model

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
