The Planning, Permissions and Land (PPL) Unit sits within the wider Operations Business Group. The Unit provides support and advice on the Department of Conservation’s statutory functions and has teams based in Hamilton, Wellington, Hokitika, Christchurch and Dunedin. The Systems and Maintenance Team maintains and improves statutory processes and is primarily located in Wellington.
The following skills and experience is required:
- Proven leadership and management experience
- A demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, encourage and lead teams
- Can assess and manage risk and issues
- Committed to excellence in delivery
- Highly developed analytical skills
- Current full driver license
Your communication skills will be exceptional, both written and oral, as you may be drawn upon to give advice to the Director General. In addition, you will be a team player who is focused on securing innovative conservation outcomes, mentoring, and working alongside others. An ability to be flexible and to adapt to work requirements, coupled with an ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people, both internally and externally, will be integral to this role.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
