Mammalian Corrections Unit
We are looking for someone to join our track cutting team for the summer to establish new predator control lines on Resolution Island in Dusky Sound.
Ideally to start soon, but could start as late as early January.
Work schedule is 8 days on 8 days off between January-March 2019. Flexibility around schedule is a must as access to site is by helicopter and flying is dictated by the weather.
Applicants need to be of a frost tolerant, hardy variety, work is conducted in virtually all weather conditions unless it is unsafe. Frost susceptible varieties need not apply.
A high level of fitness is required, the work is long and physically taxing.
Ideal applicants will have:
- a good grasp of using and maintaining chainsaws and scrub-bars.
- previous outdoor experience
- first aid unit standards 6400, 6401, and 6402
- chainsaw unit standards 6917, 6916, and 43 (but these can be obtained if necessary).
Potential for ongoing track cutting, trapping and tracking tunnels work in future.
