He angitūtanga | About the role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Ranger to help care for Marfells Beach Campsite over the 2025/26 summer season. This role offers a unique opportunity to live and work by the coast. As the on-site presence for Marfells Beach Campsite, you’ll ensure visitors have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable stay while maintaining the facilities and upholding DOC’s high standards of care and service.
The position will be focused on:
- Welcoming and assisting campers with online and in-person bookings
- Providing friendly, professional customer service to enhance visitor experiences
- Daily cleaning and maintenance of campground facilities and ablution blocks
- Monitoring water supplies and septic systems
- Reporting and following up on maintenance and health & safety issues
- Using DOC’s online booking and point of sale systems
- Supporting the Principal Ranger and wider South Marlborough Heritage & Visitor team

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:
- Previous experience in campground, hospitality, or customer service roles
- Proven ability to clean, maintain, and manage facilities to a high standard
- Confidence working independently in a remote environment
- Strong initiative and practical problem-solving skills
- Health and safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices
- Tech-savvy or willing to learn online booking and payment systems
- Current full New Zealand driver’s licence and first aid certificate
- Flexible and reliable – available for weekends, evenings, and public holidays
Please note Own accommodation required – you’ll need to provide your own suitable accommodation (such as a caravan or campervan) to live on-site at Marfells Beach Campsite for the duration of the summer season.

The salary range for this position is $60,703 to $66,911 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
